SUBMISSIONS
We take pitches for full-length submissions (1500-5000 words). Once we green light the pitch, we edit drafts with the author until it’s suitable for print, then pay $20 honorarium once the issue is in production. We strongly encourage you to actually read the magazine before you submit to grasp style/tone/content. Author’s piece will be exclusive to BtLE for a full year after its publication, after which all rights return to the author.
We are looking for essays, interviews, and hybrid memoirs that blur the lines between literary journalism and personal commentary.
We take pitches for 100-word book reviews contributed with the writer’s generosity for inclusion in an increasingly potent section in BtLE. We seek creative takes and poetic exchange rather than regurgitating mere synopsis on new releases and overlooked gems, and welcome new perspectives on classics. Again, we encourage you to read the magazine to get the vibe.
